Do you feel like your life is defined by problems, past traumas, or limiting beliefs? Imagine being able to step outside of that story and create a new narrative—one that reflects your true strength, values, and potential. At Talk Therapy Counselling Services, we offer Narrative Therapy, a powerful approach that helps you take control of your life by changing the way you view and tell your story.
Narrative Therapy is based on the idea that the stories we tell ourselves shape how we experience the world. Sometimes, those stories focus too much on problems or negative experiences, making it hard to see the bigger picture of who we are and what we’re capable of. At Talk Therapy Counselling Services, our skilled therapists work with you to separate your identity from the issues you face, allowing you to redefine your story in a way that highlights your strengths, resilience, and possibilities for the future.
With Narrative Therapy, you’ll learn to externalize your problems, view them from a new angle, and develop a narrative that better reflects your values and aspirations. It’s a collaborative process that helps you see yourself as the author of your own life, empowering you to make choices that align with the story you want to live.
EMDR therapy focuses on retrieving and processing traumatic memories and difficult life events to enable adaptive resolution for clients. EMDR has been shown to be an effective treatment for PTSD symptoms, trauma, and more recent research shows that EMDR can be helpful in treating depression, anxiety, addictions, OCD, eating disorders, and chronic pain.
DBT is a type of cognitive behavioural therapy. The focus of DBT is to notice and change negative thinking patterns, make positive behavioural changes, and manage and cope with your emotions. Research has shown that DBT can be useful for treating suicidal ideations and mood disorders.
Cognitive behaviour therapy is focused on identifying unhelpful ways of thinking, and recognizing how these ways of thinking lead to unpleasant emotions and unhelpful behaviours. CBT is an effective treatment for depression, anxiety, disordered eating, low self-esteem, addiction, anger issues, and chronic pain.
EFT therapy is focused on emotions. In therapy clients are encouraged to express, understand, and transform their emotions in a safe and non-judgmental space.
The focus of EFT couples therapy is to identify and change negative interaction cycles, decrease conflict, and to foster the emotional bond within the relationship.

During your first session, we will discuss your reasons for seeking therapy, explore your current and past concerns, and discuss your goals.
We strive to be transparent with all of our clients, and what that means is that we will discuss our therapeutic focus and direction with you. The entire therapeutic process is client-centred and focused on your needs.
Your therapist will work with you to improve relationships, set boundaries, learn healthy coping strategies, and work towards the desired change you want to see in your life.
